AiF research project "Super hydrophobic coating of filter cloths", Fkz: EP091924

(Term: Nov. 2009 - Oct. 2011)

Since the end of 2009, Rhenotherm has been working on the improvement of existing filter systems as part of the ZIM (Central Innovation Program for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, www.zim.de) funding program supported by the BMWi. This is to be achieved by coating wire mesh with different mesh sizes, which will primarily consist of fluoropolymers such as PTFE, PFA and FEP or of sol-gel materials. The aim here is to impart superhydrophobic properties to the coating by means of targeted structuring measures and thus to produce a significantly improved filter effect. The main area of application for these filters is the separation of liquid-liquid mixtures, but many other applications are conceivable and can be researched here.
