BMWi research project "Development of an antibacterial, hydrophilic coating based on sol-gel" Vehicle: EP130876

(Duration: Sept. 2013 - Dec. 2015)

This project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology as part of the funding measure "Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM)" (see also http://www.zim-bmwi.de/). The aim is to create hydrophilic surfaces that allow the antibacterial additives to develop their biocidal effect. The germ-killing effect of additives often only occurs in their ionic form, such as with silver ions. However, in order to form the antibacterial silver ions at all, the nanosilver must be able to interact with an electrolytic liquid.
