Cross-cut test

Rhenotherm uses the cross-cut test according to DIN EN ISO 2409 to Adhesion between coating and substrate to check. For long coating life, it is important to achieve good adhesion to the surface of the coated part.

In the crosshatch test, the coating of a pattern plate is cut horizontally and vertically to form a checkerboard pattern. Then a strong adhesive tape is placed on the pattern and quickly peeled off before the sample plate is then examined. If, when the tape is peeled off, no chips or parts peel off and the cutting edges are still completely smooth, the adhesion of the coating to the substrate is excellent.
